How to make an incredible charcuterie board

Easy summer snacking

Charcuterie boards are just as nice to look at as they are to eat! These meat and cheese boards are the perfect option for no-stress summer snacking or entertaining. All you need is your favourite meats, cheeses, nuts and spreads plus a variety of breads and crackers to serve as your base for your stacks. Add in a bottle of wine on the patio and your evening meal is ready to go!

When shopping for ingredients, we recommend looking at your local Italian store. They will have all the meats, cheeses and breads you will need to create your spread.

Ingredients:

Cheese boards or serving platters—a large cutting board also works!

Cured meats—try salami, sweet sopressata, prosciutto and pepperoni.

Cheese—serve both hard and soft cheeses with different milk types including brie, goat cheese, blue cheese, aged gouda etc.

Olives and antipasti—these ingredients add colour to your spread. Try different marinated peppers, artichoke hearts and olives.

Spreads—we recommend adding a couple mustards and jams, and if you’re feeling really adventurous try a nut butter.

Breads—Our favourite part, of course, is the base of it all, bread. Try different types of crackers and bases, we recommend grabbing some small breadsticks, whole wheat crackers and fresh baguette.

Fresh and dried fruit and nuts—these ingredients not only fill in the space, they are great toppings!

Directions:

  1. Start by wiping down your platter and selecting a couple different size bowls for things like dips, honey, jams, spreads to add visual interest.
  2. Place your bowls on your platter, then use them to prop up your larger items like meats, breads etc. Think about texture, shape, and colour when deciding what goes where. Try rolling up fanning out your meats and crumbling or slicing your cheese. Spread out items with different colours, flavours and shapes. For example, put your long breadsticks next to your marinated cherries. Make sure you don’t put clashing flavours next to each other!
  3. Lastly, fill in the gaps with your small neutral items like nuts, crackers or grapes. Voila! Your perfect charcuterie board is ready to be enjoyed.
